Main Street Approach The Main Street program is a structured collaborative approach to assist a community in improving the economic and visual quality of its downtown commercial core. It focuses on four main points: Organization, Promotion, Economic Restructuring, and Design. The Main Street approach helps property and business owners along with concerned residents work together so our community can realize and experience the benefits of a revitalized and successful downtown. This is a long-term program that strengthens existing businesses and creates opportunities for new ventures to develop. The Main Street Approach has proven itself to be one of the most effective economic development programs in the country.
History In 2004, with the support of Placer County, the NTBA began coordinating community meetings to implement the Main Street Four-Point Approach in their operations. Community leaders, business and property owners, and residents began meeting to develop strategies and workplans to support effective management and redevelopment of North Lake Tahoe in accordance with the community's vision of the area. The NTBA has been a member of the National Main Street Network since 2004.
North Lake Tahoe Vision North Lake Tahoe is a linked set of unique lakefront communities: Carnelian Bay, Tahoe Vista, Kings Beach, and Crystal Bay are connected by the common threads of a shared shoreline, open lake views, brilliant sunshine, and a family-friendly atmosphere in a pedestrian-oriented environment. It's a place where one can enjoy lake and land recreation, retail shops, historic sites, arts and culture. These communities work to create an economically vibrant climate and to ensure sustainable and environmentally sensitive growth where residents and visitors enjoy a diverse mountain lakeshore lifestyle.
Crystal Bay's casinos and hotels are brimming with entertainment, nightlife, gaming, and dining. Kings Beach, nestled in a park-like setting, has an economically and culturally diverse downtown complemented by an expansive public beach, thriving shops, restaurants, a conference center, and year round events. Tahoe Vista is lined with sandy beaches, easy lake access, a variety of lodging options, fine dining and an all season regional park. Carnelian Bay features wide-open lake views, small businesses, dog-friendly beaches, a marina and peaceful neighborhoods.
The communities of North Lake Tahoe provide a strong economic climate in which to live, work and play.
