Content: TOCCATA has now assumed the lease of the Mark Twain Culture Center in Incline Village. Maestro Rawie announced that the unofficial kick-off recital for the new arrangement, temporarily named Incline Performing Arts Theater (iPAT), will be at 3:00pm on Sunday, January 15 at the Theater. TOCCATA asks the Tahoe Community to come out and enjoy the Theater and spread the word that it is available for various community functions and wedding receptions in addition to Classical and Jazz/Blues concerts. There will be no charge for admission for this first concert on Jan 15. , but donations will be greatly appreciated. Placer County Seeking Nominations for Economic Development Awards
Content: The Placer County Economic Development Board is seeking nominations for awards it presents each year to recognize outstanding contributions to the county?s economic success.
The awards honor private-sector and public-sector contributions to local economic development. They will be handed out at the 21st annual Economic Development Board Summit and Breakfast to be held Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Sun City Roseville.
The deadline for submitting nominations for the awards is February 1.
Candidates should be outstanding companies, organizations or individuals other than elected officials who contributed to the county?s economic success during 2011.

Shop Local Contest -The Results are In!
Content: Almost 300 Shop Local contest cards turned in proved that more than $80,000 was spent at participating North Lake Tahoe businesses during the holidays. This is 2.6 times more dollars spent compared to last year. With the addition of two Grand Prizes and increased contest publicity, there were many first-time contest participants and people were motivated to do more of their holiday shopping locally. The $500 Tahoe Dave's Gift Certificate was won by Carol Piechocinsky and the Shooting Star Bed & Breakfast 2-night Stay was won by Aaron Bigelow. TOCCATA January 2012 Concerts
Content: TOCCATA ? Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus announces the initial concert series of its 7th Season with Mendelssohn in the Mountains. Famed violinist, Elizabeth Pitcairn, will perform Mendelssohn?s Concerto in E minor on the legendary Red Stradivarius Violin, and the fifty-voice Symphony Chorus will present Part 2 of Mendelssohn?s most important symphonic oratorio - Elijah. Soloists for Elijah include Katharine DeBoer, Joy Strotz and Anna Helwing, soprano; Maryanne Ashley, mezzo soprano; Mark Williams, tenor; and Stuart Duke, baritone in the roll of Elijah.
The performances are Thursday, January 19 at 7:00pm at the North Tahoe Hebrew Center in Tahoe Vista; Saturday, January 21 at 3:00pm in St. Patrick?s Church in Incline Village; Sunday, January 22 at 3pm in St. Theresa Church in South Lake Tahoe; and Tuesday, January 24 at 7:00pm in Trinity Church in Reno. Members from the Truckee Tahoe Community Chorus, directed by Susan Horst, will join TOCCATA for the January 19, and 21 performances.

Volunteers Needed for Road to Recovery Program
Content: The American Cancer Society is seeking volunteers in your community for its Road to Recovery program. Volunteers are needed who can give a few hours a month, between 9 a.m. ? 5 p.m., to pick up patients from their homes and drive them to and from their cancer treatments. A vehicle in good working condition, valid driver?s license, safe driving record, current auto insurance and a desire to help local cancer patients are all that is required to apply. Training is provided and required in order to be a volunteer driver for The American Cancer Society?s Road to Recovery program.
To begin training and join our local Tahoe/Truckee American Red Cross team, please contact Lynn Felsch, Emergency Service Coordinator at 530-391-8234 or email felschl@usa.redcross.org to register. Our next training class is Orientation, January 12, 5:30-7:00 pm a prerequisite for Disaster Services an Overview & Shelter Operations, January 14 9-4, all will be held in Truckee.
